The path that led us support advancement in water sanitation and hygiene began in 2014 when a close friend to Dr.Felix Manyogote (our founder)   lost an 8 years old school child on Diarrhea. This death put a face behind each and every pediatric death Dr.Felix would come across that resulted from waterborne related disease. In 2015 Dr. Felix visited his native Mwanza village of northern Tanzania and learns how lack of access to WASH facilities is the greatest barrier facing school children to access education contributing to absenteeism and poor academic performances due to WASH related morbidity. During his visit to the village he also met a 14 years old orphan girl who used to miss school 5-7 days a month during her period because she cannot afford monthly purchase of sanitary pads.  He also learnt that some girls use rags and cow dung during their menses which were very unhygienic and could lead to dangerous infections.

In August 2015, while at University Felix and his Friends decided to take action and found an organization Tanzania Young eco protection (TAYEP) to address WASH challenges in remote areas and believes it is the honor and moral obligation of all university students to stand for the betterment of their community.
